So I've decided to write a blog.
I wanted to do a podcast but with the current restrictions I couldn't get my head around the technical side, and its always quite nice to read and zone out so here we go!
I want to bring joy and motivation to all of you beautiful women out there and thought what better way to be inspired than by our fellow women!
My aim for “there she glows!" is to catch up with inspirational women and find out how they get their glow, as well as have them share their thoughts and their life in the hopes it lifts others up.
I would also like to add some fun in there - because fun is what we all deeply need.
A little about me.
I'm Fenella Blackmoore, founder of The Glow Department.
I grew up in New Zealand with my mum and dad and older sister (hi family!) We had a Golden Retriever named Jay for 14 years. We moved cities a lot due to my dads work, which also led to travelling the world at a young age. We settled in Dunedin where I went to high school and met my life long friends, OGHS represent!
I studied Beauty Therapy after high school and worked as a Beauty Therapist for several years in salons and day spas in New Zealand and Australia. I then decided I wanted to keep learning so enrolled in university and completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing. This is where I met my husband Steven and after many exams and many wild nights, we finished our studies and moved to Australia together.
Before having our two boys I worked in the beauty industry with companies such as Clinique, LUSH Cosmetics and Burt's Bees. I found natural beauty was where my true passion lay.
So, a hop, skip and jump and I finally took the leap to start my own skincare company, which has been a dream of mine since my first day of beauty school.
This has been the most rewarding work I have ever done and I have met the most incredible people along the way, fuelling my fire and motivating the heck out of me.
Ok, now for the light hearted stuff.
I'm addicted to Cheese and Bacon Shapes. Like, its a problem. I managed not to have a packet for a whole YEAR and now they have me trapped again.
I pretend I'm putting the kids movies on for my boys but they are actually for me.
Toilet humour is my favourite and I'm so glad I have two boys to indulge this.
My drink of choice is bubbles, beer, rose or chardonnay. Wait. That's a lot.
My drink of choice is bubbles.
My phone has 15,328 photos. 15,326 of these are of my boys.
The older I get the more I appreciate my friends and family and being apart from them never stops being hard.
I have also met some life long friends here in Australia who are incredible and give me all the laughs we need as mums.
Well, that's probably enough from me now.
If you're still with me, thank you so much for reading! I hope to bring some content to brighten your day in the future.
